“A fascinating male duet that presented many strong moments and gave rise to imagery of flight, companionship, respect, power, security and sensitivity with a very poignant and meaningful ending.”

- Graham Watts [OBE/Chair National Dance Awards]

"Fifty-two minutes of beauty. . .The emotion left in the auditorium was palpable. IMAGO is a tale in images that speaks, provokes and forces reflection. Dedicated to sentimental relationships that the two dancers interpreted masterfully."

- Sara Polotti [Critic Giornale Di Brescia]

“There is a tenderness to it all, as they lift each other, showcasing a degree of care, and almost but not quite embracing…. One might even describe it as heavenly”

- Bakchromeeboy [Reviewer/Critic]

“Beautiful yearning bodies inspire belief. Convincing struggles to find solace, choreographed by former Wayne McGregor dancers, enhanced by spectacular lighting.”

- Lyndsey Winship [The Guardian]

James and Travis met during their time as beloved members of Company Wayne McGregor, formally Random Dance, where they contributed to the creation of many of his acclaimed works, such as AutoBiography, Atomos, and Tree of Codes. Their many years with the company saw them perform Wayne’s vast repertoire on several of the world’s most prolific stages like Sadler Wells, Opera Garnier, The Joyce, and the Bolshoi, as well as performing alongside the Royal Ballet, Paris Opera, and many of his profound collaborators.

Their collaboration began with their first co-choreographed duet, Splinter The Noise, for the Royal Ballets Draft Works, upon Wayne's recommendation. Their work attracted significant attention from directors and notable figures, including Dame Monica Mason, who urged them to pursue their creative ambitions and have remained firm supporters of their work.

Pett|Clausen-Knight left Company Wayne McGregor in 2019 to pursue their creative ambitions and have since created a number of works that have garnered international acclaim. They presented their works in various international theatres and festivals, including The New National Theatre of Tokyo, Teatro Grande in Brescia, and Teatro Raul Flores Canelo in Mexico. They also became the first international artists to present contemporary dance on the Cerulean Tower Noh Theatre in Tokyo.

To date, they have presented more than 20 works, including several for international companies such as Drifting into I for Bangkok City Ballet. They have also presented many works to their home audiences in London. At Sadlers Wells, they hosted Thou Art the Man, Eye of the Storm, C.I., and Serious Game in a shared evening with other international choreographers in 2022.

In November 2022, they premiered IMAGO, their first full-length duet work, which received rave five-star reviews. This work led them to become Associate Artists with Dance DANCEHAUSpiù in Milan, Italy, where they created and premiered their works In the Absence and After Echoes.

Their many interests in the visual arts have been a constant driver in their ever-expanding explorations, making them masters in conceptualising powerful and unforgettable imagery.

Though both have long standing disciplines in movement, they have not shed away from cultivating their capacity in design, often taking the lead in all facets of their creation's visual elements.

Their work encompasses multi-dimensional experiences, from film, lighting, and sculpture, to convey profound subliminal messages cleverly hidden and elegantly revealed whilst never dominating their intricate movement.

It is without question that their collaborative nature has produced an eye that allows their work to harmonise within any surrounding and breed infinite possibilities in the outcome.

Apart from their creative pursuits, they also advocate for the development of art and dance among communities worldwide. They have hosted many educational engagements and collaborations with dance organisations. They directed and led the Rythm of Bangkok project, which saw a sold-out audience witness a series of their works alongside guest choreographer Oliviero Bifulco and a live creation seminar demonstrating their practice. They also led the British Council's Creative Aging project to deliver several creative dance exploration workshops to the elderly public.

As dancers, they continue their legacy through their works, but also alongside other companies and artists. They regularly collaborate with Neon Dance, a UK-based contemporary visual dance company, and have been invited to dance alongside prolific names such as Roberto Bolle and Alessandra Ferri.

Their success has grown their name into an outstanding British company, receiving many awards in dance, stage, and film across their careers and becoming widely recognised internationally for their immensely moving works. They are rapidly becoming an essential new identity in the growth of British dance for breaking the boundaries of contemporary art with unapologetic technical prowess and imaginative exploration.
